Albany, GA—Despite a determined effort, the Albany State University Golden Rams women's soccer team fell short in a 1-2 defeat against Shorter University on Tuesday (September 10) evening at the ASU Soccer Stadium. The Golden Rams fought hard throughout the match but Shorter edged out the victory.

Shorter University took control early in the first half, netting a goal at 23:59 to take a 1-0 lead. Albany State responded with solid defensive play but struggled to break through the Shorter defense until the second half.

In the second half's early stages, Shorter extended their lead with a goal at 49:30, bringing the score to 2-0.

The Golden Rams' lone goal came from Jordan Keene, who found the back of the net at 88:14. Keene's strike came after a well-executed buildup, providing Albany State with the momentum as they pushed for a go-ahead goal. Despite several offensive pushes by the Golden Rams in the final minutes, they could not find an equalizer.

The Lady Golden Rams finished with 14 total shots and four on goal. Ava Dove finished with five saves, only giving up two goals.

With the loss, Albany State falls to 0-3 on the season, while Shorter improves to 1-1.
