Wilberforce, OH - The Albany State men's basketball team secured a dramatic 77-76 win over Central State in Wilberforce, OH, earning their third SIAC victory of the season. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Marauders dropped to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC.
The Golden Rams jumped out to a strong start, building a 48-32 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and aggressive defense. However, Central State roared back in the second half, outscoring Albany State 44-29 and closing the gap in the final minutes.
Shakur Poteat led the Golden Rams with 20 points, including clutch free throws in the game's closing moments to seal the victory.
Kendale Johnson added 13 points, hitting key three-pointers to maintain Albany's lead, while
Blaise Wallace contributed 12 points and five rebounds.
Jabari Williams provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting performance.
Albany State capitalized on Central State's turnovers, scoring 31 points off miscues while holding strong in the paint with 34 points. Despite Central State's late surge, the Golden Rams' resilience and composure under pressure proved decisive.

Albany State will take a few days off to travel to St. Thomas, USVI, to participate in the 2024 YES USVI Tournament. The Golden Rams will face Winston-Salem State in their opening game on December 13 at 1:00 PM.
