Lady Golden Rams Fall to Shorter Lady Hawks in Non-Conference Matchup

Rome, GA- The Albany State Lady Golden Rams battled hard but came up short in a 71-59 loss to the Shorter Lady Hawks on Tuesday, November 26, at the Winthrop-King Centre in Rome, GA. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams fall to 1-3 overall, while Shorter improves to 4-1.

The Lady Golden Rams started strong, finishing the first quarter tied 17-17, but a tough second quarter saw them outscored 20-9, giving the Lady Hawks a 37-26 halftime advantage. Despite a spirited third-quarter effort where Albany State added 18 points, Shorter maintained their edge with efficient shooting, especially in the paint.

Albany State closed the gap to single digits several times in the fourth quarter, but Shorter's balanced attack and clutch free throws sealed the game.

Keyra Peterson led Albany State with 13 points and 6 rebounds, shooting 6-of-9 from the field. Na'Haviya Paxton contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds, showcasing her versatility on both ends of the court. Yasmine Fairchild added 9 points, including a strong second-half performance.

Next Up
The Lady Golden Rams will look to bounce back as they return to conference play. They will travel to Mobile, AL, to face Spring Hill College on Saturday, December 2. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
