Albany, GA – In a nail-biting home opener at the West Campus Arena, the Albany State Lady Golden Rams fell just short, losing 65-63 to Lees-McRae College. Despite a valiant fourth-quarter comeback, the Lady Golden Rams couldn't close the gap, dropping to 1-1 on the season. Lees-McRae improved to 2-2 with the hard-fought victory.
The Lady Golden Rams were led by
Keyra Peterson, who delivered a strong performance with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and a steal.
Jasirae Vick was instrumental off the bench, scoring 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including two clutch three-pointers.
Na'Haviya Paxton contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, and an impressive nine assists, showcasing her versatility on the court.
Despite the Lady Golden Rams' early momentum, taking a 16-12 lead after the first quarter, Lees-McRae (2-2) clawed back with steady scoring, outpacing Albany State in the second and third quarters. Kirsten Watt and Leah Barringer led the charge for the Lady Bobcats, combining for 20 points.
Albany State mounted a fourth-quarter rally, outscoring Lees-McRae 24-18. However, missed opportunities from the free-throw line and three-point range proved costly for the Lady Golden Rams, as they were unable to close the gap in the final moments.

Albany State will travel to Fairfield, AL, to face Miles College in their conference opener on Saturday, November 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM as the Lady Golden Rams look to rebound and begin SIAC play on a high note.
