Albany, GA – Despite a valiant effort, the Albany State University Women's Soccer team came up just short against USC Beaufort, falling 3-2 in a close match on their home turf. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams drop to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while the Sand Sharks improve to 6-2-2 overall and 2-1-0 in conference action.
USC Beaufort struck first in the 36th minute with a goal from Synne Bye-Andersen, giving the Sand Sharks a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Albany State equalized in the 68th minute when
Jordyn Keene found the back of the net off a beautiful assist from
Taniya Averett, tying the game at 1-1 and igniting the Lady Golden Rams' offense.
However, the Sand Sharks regained the lead in the 82nd minute with a goal from Bella Esteves, followed shortly by another goal in the 86th minute. Albany State responded quickly, with
Reilley Bain scoring her first goal of the season in the 89th minute, narrowing the deficit to 3-2. But despite a late push, ASU was unable to find the equalizer.
Albany State's defense held strong, with goalkeeper Ava Drove making several key saves to keep her team within striking distance. Drove finished the game with an impressive 12 saves, showcasing her resilience against a relentless USCB offense.

The Lady Golden Rams will look to bounce back as they prepare to host the University of North Georgia for Senior Day on Oct. 12 with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. at the ASU Soccer Stadium.
