Albany, GA – The Albany State University (ASU) Lady Golden Rams faced a challenging matchup against the University of North Georgia on October 12 at the ASU Soccer Stadium. Despite strong efforts from the Lady Golden Rams, ASU fell 2-7 to a powerful North Georgia squad. The match, part of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Officials' Week, also honored ASU's senior players in a special Senior Day presentation.
North Georgia struck early, with Alli Treadwell scoring in the 5th minute, assisted by Adleigh Wheeler. The Nighthawks continued their offensive push, adding goals from Alexa Aronoff at the 25-minute mark and Emma Moreau in the 32nd minute, assisted by Aronoff. In the second half, Bailey Oetinger added to North Georgia's lead with a successful penalty kick in the 50th minute and scored again in the 61st minute, assisted by Sam Cottle.
Albany State responded with a goal from
Reilley Bain shortly after Oetinger's penalty, marking Bain's second goal of the season.
Taniya Averett also found the back of the net for ASU in the 64th minute, assisted by
Gabby Toney. The Lady Golden Rams continued to push, but the Nighthawks proved relentless. Sam Cottle and Aronoff added two more goals for North Georgia in the final ten minutes.

Ava Droze stood strong in the net for ASU, facing over 20 shots and recording 17 saves in a valiant defensive effort. The loss brings Albany State to 1-10-0 overall and 0-3-0 in PBC play, while North Georgia improves to 7-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference action.

The Lady Golden Rams will travel to Americus, GA, to take on Georgia Southwestern on October 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
