Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams celebrated Senior Day in thrilling fashion, edging out Edward Waters 42-34 at ASU Coliseum. With this victory, the Golden Rams extended their winning streak and improved to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in SIAC play, while the Tigers fell to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the SIAC.
Despite an early 14-point deficit, Albany State responded with resilience. Quarterback
Isaiah Knowles got the Rams on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. Knowles struck again early in the second quarter with a 13-yard dash to cut the deficit, bringing the score to 14-13. The teams traded scores throughout the second quarter, highlighted by Knowles connecting with
Jamill Williams twice for touchdowns. Williams's 17-yard touchdown reception with 14 seconds left in the half gave Albany State a 28-24 halftime lead.
The Golden Rams added to their momentum early in the third quarter when
Cameron Watts electrified the crowd with a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown, extending the lead to 35-24. Edward Waters fought back, adding a field goal before the end of the third quarter and another touchdown in the fourth. However,
Tiant Wyche's 5-yard touchdown run early in the final period gave Albany State the cushion they needed.
The Dirty Blue Defense held strong, led by
Abraham Clinkscales, who had eight tackles, 1.5 sacks, and three tackles for loss. DeAvery Weeks added two sacks, while
Andrew Ruffin contributed seven tackles to the dominant defensive effort.
Up next, the Golden Rams head to Savannah to take on Savannah State on November 2, with kickoff slated for 3 p.m.
