Macon, GA – October 23, 2024 – The Albany State University Women's Cross-Country team claimed the 2024 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Cross-Country Championship at the Georgia Premier Cross-Country Course on Wednesday. The Lady Golden Rams finished with a dominant team score of 40 points, securing the title ahead of runner-up Tuskegee University.
Albany State was led by
Nathalia Rowe, who finished second overall with a time of 19:30.18. Rowe's stellar performance earned her the prestigious SIAC Women's Elite 16 Honoree, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA among the top finishers. In addition to Rowe's outstanding race,
Azzaria Brown and
Dasia Gilyard were key contributors to Albany State's victory, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Julie Tungamirai,
Zenay Rhaney,
Kaila Wimes, and
Jasiyah McCutchen also had strong finishes.
Head Coach Robert Smith was named the 2024 SIAC Women's Coach of the Year for his exceptional leadership in guiding the Lady Golden Rams to their championship triumph.
