Macon, Ga. – The dynasty continues. The Albany State University Women's Cross-Country Team proved once again that consistency, grit, and teamwork are the hallmarks of champions as they captured the 2025 SIAC Women's Cross-Country Championship in Macon, Georgia. The victory marks the Lady Golden Rams' seventh back-to-back conference championship, further solidifying their status as one of the premier programs in the SIAC.
Leading the charge for Albany State was freshman standout
Brea Vann, who finished second overall with an impressive time of 19:38.97. She was followed closely by
Faith Thompson, who crossed the finish line in 19:59.45 to take fourth place, and
Sydney Haywood, who finished seventh with a time of 20:44.26, giving Albany State three runners in the top 10. Veteran runners
Kaila Wimes (21:34.08),
Azzaria Brown (21:34.41), and
Dasia Gilyard (21:36.88) placed 15th through 17th, helping the Golden Rams dominate the team standings with six finishers inside the top 20.
Jayda Spikes rounded out ASU's effort with a solid time of 24:00.72.
Under the leadership of Coach
Robert Smith, who earned SIAC Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season, the Lady Golden Rams showcased depth, discipline, and championship poise from start to finish. Smith's back-to-back Coach of the Year recognition highlights the program's culture of excellence and the continued development of its young runners.
With another conference title secured, the Lady Golden Rams now turn their focus to the NCAA South Regionals, where they aim to build upon their legacy and continue representing Albany State University with pride on the regional stage.
