The Albany State Golden Rams softball team won their 3-game series against the Fort Valley State Wildcats on this weekend. The Golden Rams are now (23-14) overall and (16-6) in the SIAC. The Wildcats are (16-20) overall and (10-11) in the SIAC.
In game #1, the Golden Rams scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9
th inning to defeat the Wildcats (5-4). With 2 runners on base, Romona McLeod hit a single to center field to score Keyatta Ayers and
Madison Hurt for the win in extra innings.
Trista Murphy earned the win for the Golden Rams. Murphy pitched all 9 innings and allowed 3 earned runs and 6 hits. Murphy finished with 5 strike outs for the Golden Rams.
In game #2, the Golden Rams allowed 4 runs in the 1
st inning and never recovered as the were defeated (4-2) by the Wildcats. The Golden Rams were also guilty of 5 errors in the game.
The Golden Rams could only manufacture 4 hits against the Wildcats. Morgan Brown finished with 2 hits while Trista Murphy and De'Laynie Hollis contributed with a hit for the Golden Rams.
Mackenzie Chamblee pitched 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs.
In game #3, Romona McLeod pitched all 7 innings as the Golden Rams shutout the Wildcats (5-0). McLeod improved to (6-3) on the season.

Madison Hurt for the Golden Rams 1
st run. In the 5
th inning, Brown hit a monster 2-run home run over the center field fence to give the Golden Rams a commanding (5-0) lead over the Wildcats.
The Golden Rams will host Trinity for a double header at the ASU West Campus Softball Complex on Monday, April 24. The first pitch is scheduled at 5:00 pm. It will be the Golden Rams last game before the SIAC Tournament in May.
