Golden Rams Sweep Yellow Jackets on the Road

The Albany State Golden Rams softball team swept their 3-game series against the Allen University Yellow Jackets on this weekend in Columbia, South Carolina.  The Golden Rams improved to (21-11) overall and (14-5) in the SIAC while the Yellow Jackets fell to (1-38) overall and (1-20) in the conference. 
 
In game 1, the Golden Rams exploded for 5 runs in the 2nd inning to defeat the Yellow Jackets (8-2).
 
Romona McLeod went 4/5 from the plate to lead the Golden Rams.  McLeod hit 2 doubles in the game.  McLeod also stole 2 bases for the Golden Rams.
 
Jasmine Russell led the Golden Rams with 3 RBIs.  Russell hit a double in the game for the Golden Rams.  Russell finished with a stolen base in the game.
 
Trista Murphy was the winning pitcher for the Golden Rams.  Murphy pitched 7 innings and allowed 7 hits and 2 earned runs.
 
In game 2, the Golden Rams won (19-4).  The Golden Rams exploded for 14 runs in the first 2 innings against the Yellow Jackets.
 
The Golden Rams finished with 14 hits in the game. 
 
In the 1st inning, Madison Hurt hit a triple that manufactured 3 runs.  Hurt finished with 4 RBIs in the game.
 
Glory Seay hit a 3-run homer in the 2nd inning.  Glory Seay finished the game with 4 RBIs.
 
In the 3rd inning, Adrica Bellamy doubled to left field to score Jasmine Russell.
 
In the 4th inning, Kierra Washington hit a double to score Adrica Bellamy.
 
Kylie Barnett was the winning pitcher for the Golden Rams.  Barnett pitched 3 innings and allowed 1 earned run.
 
In game 3, the Golden Rams scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning to defeat the Yellow Jackets (5-3).
 
In the top of the 7th inning, Romona McLeod hit a sacrifice fly to score Keyatta Ayers to give the Golden Rams a (4-3) lead.  DeLaynie Hollis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Golden Rams a (5-3) lead.
 
Romona McLeod was the winning pitcher for the Golden Rams.  McLeod pitched 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs.
 
The Golden Rams will play the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes on Tuesday, April 18, in Americus, Georgia.
