The Albany State women and men's basketball teams swept the Edward Waters University Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Florida. The women defeated the Tigers (54-49). With the win, the Golden Rams women improved to (6-8) overall and (4-4) in the SIAC while the Tigers fell to (6-8) overall and (2-6) in the conference. It was the Golden Rams second win in a row.
Two Golden Rams scored in double figures.
Kashay Hankerson led the Golden Rams with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Hankerson also tallied 3 assists and 2 steals.
Milana Holmes contributed with 11 points off the bench for the Golden Rams.
As a team, the Golden Rams scored 20 points off the bench. The Golden Rams connected on 40.4% of their shots from the field and held the Tigers to 28.1% from the field.
In game 2, the Golden Rams won (71-55). With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (3-11) overall and (3-5) in the SIAC. The Tigers fell to (2-9) overall and (2-6) in the SIAC.
The Golden Rams used a balanced attack to defeat the Tigers as four players scored in double figures.
Malik Parker led the Golden Rams with 18 points and 4 rebounds.
Maurice Dickson finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
Jamir Moore contributed with 11 points and 3 rebounds while
Terin Wofford added 10 points and 6 rebounds.
The Golden Rams made 11 of their 27 attempts from the 3 point line. The Golden Rams led the entire game.
The women and men will play Savannah State University on Monday, January 9, in Savannah, Georgia.
