The Albany State Golden Rams defeated the Clark-Atlanta University Panthers in 3 sets at the ASU East Campus Gym on Wednesday evening. The Golden Rams dominated the match from the beginning to the end.
With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (15-6) overall and (14-2) in the SIAC. The Clark-Atlanta Panthers fell to (13-20) overall and (7-12) in the conference.
In set 1, the Golden Rams jumped out to an (8-4) lead over the Panthers. The Golden Rams maintained a (16-10) lead as the match progressed. The Golden Rams won set 1 by the score of (25-17).
In set 2, the Golden Rams jumped out to a (9-4) lead over the Panthers. The Golden Rams continued their stellar play as they increased their lead to (16-7). The Golden Rams continued their outstanding defensive play and won set 2 by the score of (25-10).
In set 3, the Panthers jumped out to a (3-0) lead. The Golden Rams battled back to tie the score (4-4). But, the Panthers scored the next 3 points to take a (7-4) lead. The Golden Rams took their first lead of the set at (11-10). With the score tied (14-14), the Panthers called a timeout. The Golden Rams jumped out to a (23-18) lead after the timeout and eventually won the set (25-17).
