Benedict College Sweeps Albany State At Home In Doubleheader Action

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALBANY, Ga.- In game one, the Tigers put three runs on the board in the first three inning and cruised to an 11-0 victory of the Golden Rams. Shepherd pitcher Deyonce Lewis held Albany State to seven hits and three walks and recorded her first win of the season.

Four Benedict players had two hits each and the Tigers pounded out 14 total hits. Rainah Khan paced Benedict with a game-high three RBI in the opener.

Of Albany State's five hits in the opener, freshman MacKienzee Rasheed (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Golden Rams with finishing the contest going two-of-three from the plate.

Benedict College began game two putting three runs on the board on the top of the first inning. However, Albany State responded with four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Golden Rams then plated a run in the second inning to edge the Tigers 5-3. The Tigers answered with adding two runs to the top of the third inning to tie the game 5-5. Benedict then plated four runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-5 lead. Albany State next at bat plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut BC's lead 9-7. The Golden Rams next added three runs to the board to edge the Tigers 10-9 in the fifth inning. The Tigers answered with seven runs in the seventh inning and closed out the Golden Rams 16-10.

Benedict (2-0) was led by McNeal in game two with five hits and Miller added three hits.

Eight Albany State players had at least one hit in game two with Destiny Herrera accounting for three RBIs and finished with a perfect performance at the plate. The Golden Rams finished the contest with recording two errors in game two.

Albany State's next scheduled game is Sunday (March 14) where they will travel to Americus, Georgia for a matchup against Georgia Southwestern State University. The doubleheader action is slated to start at 1 p.m.
