ALBANY, Ga. - The Albany State University women's basketball team suffered a loss in their 2021 home opener against Tuskegee University, 92-64. Chelsea Hill lead the Golden Rams with a season high performance with adding 20 points. Alexandria Booker finished the contest contributing 15 points and two rebounds.
Kayla Milner closed out the double-digit scoring for the Golden Rams with 11 points.
The Lady Tigers (7-0) started the contest with going on a 13-0 run in the first five minutes of the game. The Golden Rams answered with a layup by Kierra York to cut TU's lead 13-2 with 5:20 left in the first quarter. Tuskegee then continued to add points to close of the quarter with a 23-13 lead.
Keeping the same momentum in the second quarter the Lady Tigers continued to add points taking a 49-28 lead over Albany State at the half.
The Golden Rams continued to fight in the third quarter securing a three-pointer by Chelsea Hill with 5:19 left to bring the score 65-32. The Lady Tigers answered with a securing a three-pointer by Brittney Bolin to edge the Golden Rams 80-39 to end the quarter.
Tuskegee then added 12 points in the final quarter to cruise to the 92-64 victory. The Golden Rams finished the contest with forcing nine turnovers. ASU finished with shooting 50 percent from the three point line (11-of-22).
The Golden Rams will return to action on Tuesday, February 16th as they travel to Fairfield, Alabama for a matchup against the Golden Bears of Miles College. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. (CST).
