SAVANNAH, Ga. – Chelsea Hill led Albany State with 15 points in the Golden Rams 85-50 loss to the Savannah State University Lady Tigers in non-conference women's basketball action, Friday at Tiger Arena.
Hill led a group of two Golden Rams (0-6) that scored eight points or more.
Kayla Milner contributed 10 points.
Le'Andrea Gillis led a contingent of four Savannah State (2-1) players in double figures with 19 points. Bria Gibbs added 17 while Azhana Maxwell and Amari Heard each chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively.
For the game, the Lady Tigers shot 32-of-80 (40 percent) from the field including 7-of-19 (36.8 percent) from the three-point line. Conversely, ASU shot 18-of-57 (31.6 percent) in the game.
Up 9-3 at the 6:11 mark of the first half, Savannah State outscored the Golden Rams 9-0 over the next four minutes to take a 18-5 advantage. Albany State University added points over the next two minutes to cut SSU's lead 18-12 to in the quarter. An impressive performance defensively by the Lady Tigers held the Golden Rams to only seven points in the second quarter taking a 45-19 lead at the half. SSU continued with the same momentum in the second half adding 40 points to cruise to an 85-50 victory.
Albany State will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 20
th as they face the Lady Tigers of Savannah State University. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at Tiger Arena.
