ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University men's basketball team fell to the Benedict College Tigers 75-62 at home on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Simpson led the Golden Rams securing his first double-double performance of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Malik Parker finished the contest with adding 13 points. Rounding out the double-digit scoring for the Golden Rams was
Titus Burns with 12 points.
Both teams would battle for the lead tying the score three times in the first six minutes of the contest. The Golden Rams then took a 16-10 lead with 11:39 left in the first half.Benedict then took a 36-30 lead at the half. The Golden Rams opened the second half with a 3-pointer by
Malik Parker to cut the lead to 36-33. The Tigers then scored the next nine points, getting a dunk and a pair of baskets.
Albany State cut the lead to 49-46 with 11:56 left, but the Tigers pushed the lead to 55-47 after jumpers and a pair of free throws by Aboubacar Camara. The Tigers then added 20 points in the remaining minutes of the contest to cruise to the victory.
Timothy Bing Jr. led the Benedict Tigers, now 5-1, with 18 points. Jayden Lockett added 13 points, while Jerome Bivins scored 12 points.
The Golden Rams will be back in action on Tuesday as they host the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
