ALBANY, Ga. – The abrupt end to the remainder of the 2020 NCAA spring sports season around the country has hit especially hard for senior student-athletes, many of whom had plans of celebrating senior days, competing one last time for conference championships, and graduating.
Over the course of this week, ASU Athletics is highlighting a number of these student-athletes who have been integral members of their sports programs, on and off the fields of competition.
Cody Chapman is a right handed pitched on the baseball team. Cody is a native of Colquitt, Georgia and has played for the Golden Rams for three years. On the field, he has pitched a total of 18 games with 20.1 innings pitched, 15 strikeouts and 14 walks. Chapman has a 1-0 win/loss record. Over his career he has thrown 204 pitches.

Q: What made you choose Albany State as your college destination?
A: I chose Albany State because of the warm environment it made me feel. I felt comfortable and I could be myself at this school. Baseball did play a high role in the decision also.
Q: What is your favorite memory as a Golden Ram?
A: My favorite memory as a golden ram was when my baseball teammates and I went 21-1 in the regular season of conference games. I will never forget those moments.
Q: What is your major and what would you like to do with it after graduation?
A: Biology, I plan on going to dental school and specializing in oral surgery.
Q: What is the hardest part about not being able to finish this season?
A: The hardest part of not being able to finish this season is seeing full potential the team could have been.
Q: The NCAA is offering eligibility relief for senior spring sports athletes to receive another year in their chosen sport. What would that opportunity mean to you?
A: The opportunity is a blessing. The seniors and I have been blessed to have the opportunity to come play our beloved game one more entire year.
