Baseball Takes Two on the Road at Morehouse College

ATLANTA, Ga. – Albany State University pounded three home runs and 17 hits in a doubleheader sweep over the Morehouse College in a SIAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Lakepoint Park.
 
Albany State hit one home run in the first game to take a 4-2 victory. The Golden Rams had 11 hits and two addition home runs in the second game for a 7-3 victory.
 
With the victories Albany State improves to 21-17 and 13-1 in the SIAC play. Morehouse falls to 7-22 overall and 4-8 in the SIAC. 
 
Albany State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Kevin Walker doubled to plate Roulhac recording an RBI. Morehouse answered in the bottom of the first will plating a run to make the score one all. Both teams remained scoreless over the next seven innings. In the top of the ninth the Golden Rams secured three (3) runs to grow its lead to 4-1. Ernis Reyes collected a home run for the Golden Rams bring two across home plate.The Maroon Tigers then plated one runs in the bottom of the ninth inning but wasn't enough as ASU took the 4-2 victory. 
 
Bring the same momentum into the second game the Golden Rams plated two runs in the first two innings to make the score 2 all. Impressive work by ASU held the Maroon Tigers scoreless over the next four innings of the contest. The Golden Rams added one run each in the third and sixth innings to grow its lead 4-3. Both Travis Ray Jr. and Kevin Bryant II collected home runs. ASU finished out its scoring in the seventh inning with plating three runs to cruise to a 7-3 victory.
  
Morehouse managed just four hits in the second game. Albany State finished the contest with 11 hits.

The Golden Rams will host a four-game series against Paine College on April 19-20th. The first doubleheader game is slated for 4 p.m. Albany State will close out the series on Saturday, April 20th at 1 p.m.
