Box Score ALBANY, Ga. (March 9, 2019) – The Albany State University softball team collected a three-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekend series victory over Paine College.
The Golden Rams entered the contest plating two runs at the top of first inning. The Lions then answered in the bottom of the first adding its only run of the contest. In the top of the second, ASU then added another score with
Aryn McGowan coming across home plate. From this point the game was in favor of the Golden Rams as they plated five runs in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 8-1. Albany State University then cruised to a 14-1 victory with adding six runs in the final inning of the contest.
Albany State enters the second game with the same momentum with dominating the contest adding six runs in the opening inning. The Golden Rams then plated 12 runs in the second to grow its lead, 18-0. In the remaining three innings of the contest they added 10 runs to secure the 28-0 victory over the Lions of Paine College. Impressive work on the mound by Albany State held the Lions scoreless.
Lauren Lowery pitched five innings allowing two hits, zero runs and seven strikeouts.
In the final game of the series Albany State dominated the contest adding seven runs in the first inning. The Golden Rams then plated five runs in the second to grow its lead, 12-0. In the fourth inning of the contest they added eight runs to secure the 20-0 victory over the Lions of Paine College. Impressive work on the mound by Albany State held the Lions scoreless.
Aryn McGowan pitched five innings allowing three hits, zero runs and 10 strikeouts.
With the victories the Golden Rams improve to 3-0 in SIAC conference play, while the Lions move to 0-3 in conference play.
The Golden Rams will return back to action as they travel to Jasper, Alabama to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament on March 14-16
th.
