ALBANY, Ga.— Albany State University baseball (12-14, 4-0) opened its conference play securing the four game weekend series victories over Lane College (4-13, 0-4) on March 16-17
th at the Golden Rams Field.
The Dragons entered game one plating five runs to take a early 5-0 lead at the top of the first. Melvin Crayton collected a home run and the Dragons capitalized on errors by the Golden Rams in the first. The Golden Rams answered in the bottom of the first when Albany State's
Theo Smith and T. Ray Jr. both was hit by the pitcher which advanced the runners on base to added two runs.
Quan.Dodson-Williams when hit a sac fly to left field which brought
Kyle Walker across home plate. The Golden Rams then added five runs to the board to take a 8-5 lead. Albany State ended the bottom of the second inning with four hits. In the bottom the second the Golden Rams continue to add points with collecting six to grow its lead to 14-5.
The Golden Rams would then cruise the remainder of the innings with adding one run each in the fourth and sixth inning to collect a 16-5 victory. Albany State finished the contest with eight hits while the Dragons finished with four.
On the mound for ASU was
Roman Oliu who pitched six innings allowing four hits, five runs, two walks and seven strikeouts. Finishing things out was
Tre Turner who pitched one inning allowing two strikeouts and one hit by pitch in the four batters faced.
Game Two
The Golden Rams brought the same momentum into the second game with adding four runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead over the Dragons.
Gavin Sloan doubled to right field to bring two players across home filed recording 2 RBI's. Reyes singled to center field to score Sloan recording an RBI to close out the scoring for the Golden Rams.
In the bottom of the third the Golden Rams collected two runs on three hits. The Golden Rams dominated in the bottom of the fourth with adding 11 runs.
Kevin Bryant II secured a home run to plate three runs and recording three RBIs. The Dragons added its only run of the contest in the top of the fourth inning. The Golden Rams kept the Dragons scoreless in the remaining innings of the contest to secure the 17-1 victory. Albany State finished the contest with 17 hits while the Dragons finished with two.
Game Three
Keishawn Clark collected a home run for Lane College in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead. The Golden Rams remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth,
Quan.Dodson-Williams tripled to right field which brought McClendon and Ray across home plate.
Gavin Sloan then bunted to score Quan Dodson-Williams.
Chasen Roulhac tripled to right field to score Circullo and Sloan. Kevin Walker flied out to center field and Roulhac scored. Rounding out the scoring this inning,
Quan.Dodson-Williams singled to left field which brought
Travis Ray Jr. home and the Golden Rams collecting a 8-1 lead. The Golden Rams would then add two runs in the bottom of the sixth to cruise to 10-1 victory. Albany State finished the contest with recording 11 hits while the Dragons finished with four.
Game Four
The Golden Rams was first to add one run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Dragons then found its rhythm in the top of the second inning plating four runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Golden Ram answered in the bottom of the third inning collecting five runs. Lane then added four run in the top of the fourth inning to take a 8-6 lead. Both teams added runs in the fifth inning with the Dragons of Lane College holding on to a 10-9 lead. Albany State University then jumped ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning with adding two runs to take a 11-10 lead. Lane College added its final run of the contest in the top of the seventh inning when Chris O'Neal singled to right field and Treviz Brown scoring. The Golden Rams finished the contest with bases loaded and
Travis Ray Jr. was hit by pitch to advance the runners and
Chasen Roulhac coming across home plate to take the 12-11 victory. Albany State finished the contest with recording 10 hits and three errors while the Dragons outhit the Golden Rams with 12 and two errors.

The Golden Rams will face the Cougars of Columbus State University on Wednesday, March 20
th. First Pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
