ALBANY, Ga. -  The Golden Rams volleyball team hosted its first home match of the 2018 season on Tuesday night, Sept. 25 when the Warhawks of Auburn University Montgomery visited the HPER Complex. AUM took the match in straight sets, 25-8, 25-19, and 27-25.
Jannai Cheeks led the way for Albany State (0-9) with seven kills.
Ciara Chapman recorded 23 assists and
Keonna Hobbs added a game high four blocks. As a team, the Golden Rams managed a hitting percentage of only .031 compared to .204 from AUM.
Auburn-Montgomery (9-7) broke a five-game losing streak with the win and improved to 5-0 on the season versus SIAC opponents. Sommer Rhea led the Warhawks with seven kills followed by Jaylyn Felder and Nyah Whittlesey with six each.
The Golden Rams return to action on Thursday as they host the SIAC Volleyball Crossover at the HPER Complex, Sept. 27-29. Albany State will play three matches on Day 1 beginning with Lane College at 11 am ET. The Golden Rams will then play Spring Hill College at 3 pm followed by a contest with Central State University scheduled for 5 pm.Â
