ALBANY, Ga. | Albany State played host to the annual SIAC Crossover on Thursday which featured three conference matches for the Golden Rams. Day 1 kicked off with a match against Lane College followed by afternoon tilts with Spring Hill College and Central State University.
Game 1 vs Lane College
Albany State (1-9, 1-1) picked up their first win of the season by taking down the Dragons of Lane College by a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16).
Jordyn Terrell (Freshman, Atlanta, Ga.) led the Golden Rams, who recorded their second highest attack percentage on the season (.103), with nine kills.
Ciara Chapman (Senior, Cocoa, Fla.) added a game-high 21 assists.
Aza Rae Underwood led Lane (2-9, 1-5) with four kills.
Game 2 vs Spring Hill College
ASU (1-10, 1-2) dropped game two of the Crossover to the Lady Badgers of Spring Hill (25-16, 25-10, 25-9).
Jannai Cheeks (Sophomore, Mableton, Ga.) recorded eight kills with a season-high hitting percentage of .238. Terrell added four kills for the Golden Rams.
Spring Hill (12-3, 7-0) finished the game with team hitting percentage of .385. Kassandra Fairly had 12 kills for the Lady Badgers.
Game 3 vs Central State University
The Golden Rams (2-10, 2-2) bounced back in their third match of the day, defeating the Lady Marauders 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-20).
Keonna Hobbs (Senior, Jonesboro, Ga.) led an impressive Albany State attack with 13 kills.
Yadira Lyons (Freshman, Haynes City, Fla.) chipped in 12 kills while Cheeks added 10 kills. The team set a season-high in hitting percentage (.259). Chapman was credited with 31 assists.
Akaila Howard recorded five kills for Central State (2-13, 1-5).
The Golden Rams continue play in the SIAC Crossover on Friday. Albany State will again play three matches starting with Miles College at 9 am ET. They follow that with a contest versus Kentucky State at 1 pm and finish off the day against LeMoyne-Owen at 5 pm.
