COCHRAN, Ga. – Albany State University women's soccer was shut out Sunday, Sept. 16 in a 3-0 loss at Middle Georgia State University.
Middle Georgia State came out firing, getting off its first shot in the second minute of play, but ASU goalkeeper
Abby Whiteside was there for the save. Whiteside collected three saves in the first 10 minutes, along with a team save, to keep the Knights off the board early. However, Miagh Downey scored in the 23
rd minute off a pass from Natalie Skorupa to put Middle Georgia up 1-0. Downey found the net again eight minutes later off a double assist from Pernille Kelm and Hannah Theriault. Â
The Golden Rams had two more saves later in the half to keep the score 2-0 at halftime.
Brandy Ann Wacker scored Middle Georgia's third goal with 21:29 remaining in the game.
Albany State collected seven total shots, including two by
Jenna Wade.
Sydney Bishop,
Roberta Da Silva Lima,
Haley Kincheloe,
Alesha Kostrzewa and
Alexus Lawson also took shots.
Whitehead finished the game with seven saves, with the ASU defense being credited for four team saves.
ASU (1-4) will travel to Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m.
