BASEBALL TAKES 11-6 WIN OVER LANE IN TOURNEY OPENER

Golden Rams Advance to Face Clark-Atlanta Friday at 2pm.


2018 SIAC Tournament Bracket 

ALBANY- The Albany State University Golden Rams rallied from behind to earn an 11-6 win over Lane College in the opening round of the SIAC Baseball Tournament at Eames Field.

The Dragons struck first in the top of the first inning when Chris O'Neal hit a three run homer to left field but Lane would then be held scoreless until their final at bat. Down eight runs, Dragons scored three in the top of the ninth but O'neal grounded out to the pitcher to end the late rally.

Albany State got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third when a two out fielding error plated Trey McMillan and Riliani Familia.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Golden Rams pulled ahead, scoring three runs on four hits and one Lane error. ASU tied the game at 3-3 when a bases loaded groundout scored Lawrence Hyde from third. Nic Griggs then put Albany State in front with a 2RBI single through the right side.

The Rams piled on five more runs in the sixth, including a 3RBI home run courtesy of Lawrence Hyde.

The Golden Rams advance in the winner's bracket and will take on Clark-Atlanta at 2pm on Friday at West Campus Field.
