ASU GOLF, WOMEN’S TENNIS TOPS IN COMMUNITY SERVICE

Golden Ram Teams in Top Ten Nationally in Community Outreach

ALBANY- Two of Albany State University's athletic teams ranked near the top nationally in community service hours for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Out of fifty (50) teams ranked in NCAA Division II this year, men's golf and women's tennis both finished in the top ten for their community service efforts since July 1, 2017 according to Helper Helper. Helper Helper is a volunteer app/web portal coordinator that tracks hours and assists with mobilizing volunteers as they partner with organizations on community service projects.

The Golden Rams helped NCAA Division II lead the way this year as they logged the most hours (208,665) of the three collegiate divisions. Between Divisions I (189,491), II and III a combined 412,280 hours of volunteering was posted this year by a total of 38,980 student-athletes.

In team totals for D2, on the women's side the ASU tennis team finished seventh overall while the Golden Rams golf team came in tenth place for the men. Division II fell slightly behind in total volunteers (18,726 to 18,384) but bested their DI counterparts in participation 34%-31%.
