ASU SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT VALDOSTA STATE

Murillo Homers Three Times in Road Doubleheader

VALDOSTA-Valdosta State University took two games from Albany State University, 6-1 and 12-4 Tuesday afternoon at Steel's Diamond Field.

With the win the Blazers finish 4-0 against ASU this season, as they defeated the Golden Rams in the season openers February 1st in Albany.

The Golden Rams' only run in Tuesday's opener came by way of a solo homer from Brianna Murillo in the top of the sixth inning. The Blazers put up two runs in their first at bat and then got a solo home run from Tana McDaniel in the fourth inning for a 3-0 lead.

Valdosta got two more home runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a two RBI shot to left center from Heather Robinson.

In game two, Murillo smashed another solo shot out the park in the top of the first inning. The Blazers charged back in their half, reeling off five runs to take a four run advantage. After a solo homer from Jessica Mohl extended the Blazers lead to 6-1, Murillo put the Rams back in it with a 3RBI home run in the top of the third.

The Golden Rams were held scoreless the rest of the way while the Blazers put up two runs in the fourth and four more in the bottom of the fifth to wrap the game in five innings.
