ASU BASEBALL ROLLS PAST PAINE COLLEGE 21-4

ALBANY-The Albany State University Golden Rams cruised past Paine College 21-4 in the first game of a weekend series Friday night at West Campus Field.

As ASU welcomed baseball fans out for a fun filled evening at Campus/Community/Alumni night, the Golden Rams totaled 23 hits as a team to tame the Lions.

Albany State held a 5-2 advantage through two complete before taking control of the game with a seven run burst in the bottom of the third inning.

In the top of first inning, Paine put up the first two runs of the game. Gabriel Guzman scored on a passed ball after reaching on an RBI double to plate Alek Sierra. The Golden Rams responded with three runs, scored on one hit and a Paine error in the bottom of the inning to take the one run lead.

ASU got two more runs in the second on RBI singles from Trey McMillan and Tyler Morris. The Lions were forced to use three from their pitching rotation in an attempt to slow the Rams' offensive attack but it was to no avail. The home team piled on eight more runs in the bottom of the sixth, to secure the win in a shortened seven innings.

ASU had six different Rams put up a double versus Paine; Familia and Hyde finished with two doubles a piece.

Morris finished the day going 4-5 from the plate and tallied a game high 5 RBI.

The Golden Rams and Lions will resume their series with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1pm on West Campus.
