GEORGIA COLLEGE PUSHES PAST ASU BASEBALL 6-2

Bobcats Earn Season Sweep in Non-Conference Matchup

ALBANY-Georgia College shook off a slow start to rally past Albany State University 6-2 Tuesday afternoon at West Campus Field.

With the win the Bobcats improve to 31-8 on the season and earn the non-conference seasons series sweep as they defeated the Golden Rams 13-3 back on March 13th in Milledgeville, Georgia.

The game was tied at 2-2 until the Bobcats pulled ahead the top of the seventh when Brandt Stallings led the inning off with a solo home run. Three batters and an ASU pitching change later, Matthew Miller reached on a fielder's choice scoring Garrett Green and the score stood 4-2 in favor of the Bobcats.

The Golden Rams only runs of the game came in their first at bat. With runners at second and third, Tyler Morris doubled to clear the bases and give ASU a 2-1 advantage. That score would hold up until Miller singled in the top of the fifth, driving in Mike Warren to tie the game.

Albany State left a total of eleven on base, stranding runners in eight of nine innings.

The Bobcats outslugged the Golden Rams twelve to nine in hits and added a run in their half of the eighth and ninth innings for the final point spread.

ASU (19-16) will close their 2018 home slate versus Paine College with a two-day, three-game set April 20-21st at West Campus Field. The action will kick off with Campus/Community/Alumni Day on Friday at West Campus Field. Admission is free and first pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
