WEST FLORIDA ROLLS PAST ALBANY STATE 15-5

ALBANY- The University of West Florida took the two game series from Albany State University with a 15-5 win in eight innings on Wednesday afternoon.

The Argonauts collected 17 hits against the Golden Ram pitching rotation, including a bases clearing triple from Bryant Harris in the sixth inning for a 12-5 lead.

Prior to that, Matt Sullivan and Matthew Jones led off what would end up being a five-run fifth inning with back to back home runs. By the middle of the inning, the Argos were in front 10-3. ASU put two on the board in the bottom of the inning, courtesy of a RBI sacrifices from Nic Griggs and Riliani Familia but unfortunately for Ram fans the home team was shut out the rest of the way.

ASU got three of their six hits on the afternoon in the first inning. The Golden Rams seized early momentum with a 2RBI homer from Familia and two batters later Ryan McClendon hit a solo shot to give ASU a 3-0 lead.

West Florida (18-9) matched the Rams with three runs of their own in the top of the second and got the go ahead run in the fourth when Brandon Harmon scored from third on a balk.

Albany State will return to action with a three-game SIAC series against Benedict College beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at West Campus Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:
