ASU BASEBALL TOPS GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN 7-4

Rams Come From Behind to Capture Road Win

AMERICUS- The Albany State University baseball team defeated Georgia Southwestern University 7-4 Tuesday evening.

The Golden Rams rallied from a 3-1 deficit, scoring seven runs in the 7th inning and limited the Canes to just one hit the rest of the way to claim the non-conference victory.

The Hurricane scored a run in their half of the first, third and fourth and held the Golden Rams scoreless through six complete innings. In the top of the seventh, the Rams finally got on the scoreboard when an error by the third baseman scored Nic Griggs and advanced Tyler Morris to third. Ryan McClendon, who reached on the error moved over to third when Lawrence Hyde's single scored Morris.

The Golden Rams continued to pour it on when Chasen Roulhac stepped to the plate and doubled to bring in McClendon and tie the game at 3 all. Riliani Familia followed up with a single to center field that drove in Hyde, loaded the bases and gave the Rams a 4-3 lead.

Griggs drew a bases loaded walk for a 5-3 three ASU advantage. Morris then came through with a double down the left field line for the final two runs of the Rams' scoring barrage.

In the bottom of the inning the Hurricanes (2-6) got a batter on with a walk who later scored off an ASU error for the final point spread.

Tristan Rice earned his first win as a starter for the Golden Rams to move his record to 1-1 on the year.

The Golden Rams (4-5) will return to the diamond on Thursday when they host Auburn University Montgomery in Albany. Game time is scheduled for 4pm on West Campus.
