ALBANY, Ga. | The Golden Rams hosted Georgia Southwestern State on Saturday. ASU came away with their first win of the season after taking down the Surge, 68-65.
Albany State fell behind big early, trailing by 10 points with 12:03 left in the first half. The Golden Rams chipped away and then used a 14-2 run over the final five minutes of the first half to build a 3-point halftime lead.Â
ASU shot 53 percent from the field in the second half and led by as many as 13 in the final frame. The reserves played a major role in Saturday's victory, as the Golden Rams bench chipped in for 23 points.
Four players scored in double-figures for Albany State (1-3). Tyrell Williams tied for a game-high 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Randy McClure scored 14 points and Mario Young and Jared Harrington added 13 points apiece.Â
Kwei Larty led Georgia Southwestern State (1-3) with 16 points.
Albany State plays again on Tuesday, November 20th, when they host Georgia College at the Arena at West Campus. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
