MORROW, Ga.– The Albany State University suffered a road loss to Clayton State University, 3-0 Wednesday evening.
Clayton State came out firing in the first half. Isabel Massa put the Lakers on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season assisted by Manoly Baquerizo.
The Lakers kept control of the ball, attempting several shots on their end of the pitch. Pia Huag fired a shot from 25 out that bounced off
Abby Whiteside, hitting the bottom of cross bar for a goal, giving Clayton State a 2-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, Clayton State's Manoly Baquerizo put a header in, assisted by Marie Durr increasing the margin to 3-0.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second stanza resulting in a 3-0 victory for Clayton State.
Abby Whiteside finished with 12 saves.
Albany State continues their road stint on Saturday, Oct. 6 when they head to Francis Marion University. Action begins at 4:30 p.m.
