Golden Rams fall to West Georgia

CARROLTON, Ga.- After winning its first game in a close contest on Tuesday, the Albany State baseball team fell victim in another barn burner on Wednesday. ASU dropped a 5-4 decision to the University of West Georgia Wolves.
 
The loss gives the Golden Rams an overall record of 1-14, while West Georgia improves to 8-10.
 
Albany State opened the game with an early deficit, trailing 4-0 after the first inning. The Golden Rams began its rally in the top of the third inning. Chasen Roulhac's sacrifice fly scored Peter Setterich, and Bryant Prather hit a single to score Quantico Dodson Williams to make the score 4-2.
 
The two teams would not score again until the ninth inning. Ryan Sims belted a two-run homer to tie the score at four heading into the bottom of the stanza. However, the Wolves scored off a sacrifice to end the game.
 
Theo Smith and Setterich led Albany State with two hits apiece. Michael Davis was the losing pitcher.
 
The Golden Rams recorded nine hits, committed three errors and left eight runners on base.
 
Albany State will return to action on March 15 when it hosts Columbus State University. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
