Golden Rams lose to Columbus State

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State baseball team could not find victory in its return home. ASU lost to visiting Columbus State by the score of 8-2.
 
With the loss, the Golden Rams fall to 1-15 on the season, while CSU improves to 13-8.
 
After Columbus State took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Albany State started a rally in the bottom of the stanza. Nic Griggs and Chasen Roulhac both scored on errors to cut the team deficit to 3-2.
 
However, the Cougars scored two runs in the fourth and three runs in the top of the ninth to pull away from the home team.
 
Jeremy Arrington was 2-for-4 from the plate to lead Albany State. Tyler Wilcher was the losing pitcher. The Golden Rams recorded seven hits, three errors and seven runners left on base.
 
Columbus State was led by Mason McClellan, who went 2-for-5 and recorded three RBIs. Bryce Delevie went 3-for-4. Kolton Ingram was the winning pitcher.  
 
The Cougars tallied 10 hits, two errors and nine LOBs.
 
Albany State will open SIAC conference play March 18-19 at home. The Golden Rams will face LeMoyne-Owen College in a three-game series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
