Cold Shooting Costly for Albany State in Road Loss

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA- Georgia College's Alyah McGriff posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Bobcats topped Albany State University 60-44 in a non-conference matchup Monday night.
Erin Drynan and Sydney Cleveland also put up double digits for the Bobcats scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively for the Bobcats. GC improves to 3-4 overall while the Lady Golden Rams slip to an even .500 at 5-5.
Alexandria James scored a team high 16 points off the bench to lead Albany State.
The Bobcats took control of the game in the second quarter after holding the Golden Rams to just four points on 2-14 shooting from the field (14%). Georgia College closed the second stanza on a 9-0 run, capped by a 3-pointer courtesy of Cleveland, and took a 28-11 lead into the break.
When play resumed, the Bobcats continued to roll on offense, shooting 50% from the floor and maintaining a double digit advantage. They finished the quarter with a 20 point lead (46-26) and notched their largest lead of the night, a 27 point spread after Sadie Cleveland connected from downtown with 7:36 left in the contest.
Kayla Green was the only other Lady Ram to register double figures with a 13 point effort.
Georgia College and Albany State will meet again on Saturday at West Campus Arena as a part of another non-conference doubleheader. Tip off is scheduled for 6pm.
