ALBANY, GA- The Albany State University soccer team fought hard but it was to no avail as the Lady Golden Rams fell to Newberry College 3-0 Monday afternoon on West Campus.

Albany State amassed a season high 17 shots on goal but were held scoreless by the Lady Wolves. Newberry moves to 3-9 on the season while ASU falls to 0-10 on the year.

The Lady Wolves got two first half goals from Courtney Velazquez (Alyssa Ortega) and Deisi Hernandez (Velazquez) to seize a 2-0 lead at halftime. Ortega picked up another assist on a goal by Daphne Heyaime at the 61:19 mark. Newberry split 26 shots by period with 13 in each half while Ortega led the way with a team high 6 shot attempts.

Jenna Wade and Leicia Cupulille each put up 5 shot attempts (3 shots on goal) for the Lady Golden Rams. Goalkeeper Abby Whiteside went the distance, putting up a 7 save effort in the loss.
