Lady Rams Volleyball drops final two games at Tuskegee Spikefest

TUSKEGEE, Ala.- The Albany State Lady Rams' attempt to leave the Tuskegee Spikefest with three victories was nullified on the second day of the event. ASU lost its early match with North Greenville University 3-0 before dropping its afternoon contest 3-0 to Limestone College.
 
With the pair of losses, the Lady Rams are now 1-3 overall. North Greenville and Limestone both improve to 3-0.
 
 
North Greenville 3, Albany State 0
 
During the first two games, Albany State was able to keep the match close. ASU only lost the first two games by 21-25 and 18-25 scores. However, the team's chance for victory ended in the third set, losing 25-13.
 
Justice Howard led the Lady Rams with 10 kills, and libero Kiara Thompson added 11 digs. Chelona Holmes had five kills and seven digs. Setter Jahkishma Soto recorded 18 assists and seven digs.
 
 
Limestone 3, Albany State 0
 
The Lady Rams could not get into contention from the start. The team's 25-13 loss in the first game began a trend for the rest of the match. ASU lost the following two contests by the identical score of 25-12.
 
Holmes and Keonna Hobbs each recorded four kills for Albany State. Soto had 13 assists, and Thompson added six digs.
 
Albany State is scheduled for another road trip on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Lady Rams will travel to Fairfield, Ala. for a doubleheader with Alcorn State University and Miles College. Game times are set for 2 and 4 p.m. (central time zone).
