Golden Rams to compete in SIAC tournament

ALBANY, Ga- The Albany State men's basketball team will enter postseason play when it participates in the 2016 SIAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. The event is currently being held at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.

Albany State, who finished the regular season with an overall record of 5-21 (4-14 in the SIAC), will enter the tournament as the sixth seed from the SIAC East Division. The Golden Rams will face the West's third seed Lane College. During the regular season, the Dragons defeated ASU 74-64 in Jackson, Tenn. on Jan. 7.

The winner of the ASU-Lane contest will move on to face #2E Morehouse College. That game will be played on Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

In addition to today's ASU-Lane contest, #3E Claflin will face #6 Kentucky State. #2E Morehouse and #7W will vie at 9:15 p.m. All tournament games have central zone times.

In tournament action on Monday, #4W LeMoyne-Owen defeated #5E Fort Valley State 78-65. #5W Tuskegee University beat #4E Clark Atlanta 76-66. The Magicians advance to face #1E Benedict College. The Golden Tigers will face #1W Stillman in the second round.
