Lady Rams dominate Tuskegee in SIAC matchup

ALBANY, Ga.- Keidra Green made five three-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 73-40 victory over the Tuskegee University Tigerettes. With the win, ASU pushes its record to .500 (10-10 overall) for the first time this season and improves to 10-2 in the SIAC.

After a slow start, Albany State took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back. Keidra Green led the charge by nailing four of her three-pointers in the stanza. ASU also utilized its pressure defense to distance itself from the Tigerettes. By halftime, the Lady Rams held a 32-22 edge.
 
Albany State diminished any comeback hopes for Tuskegee in the second half. The Lady Rams' defense remained solid, and they outscored the Tigerettes 16-7 to push their advantage to 48-29.
 
ASU continued its domination in the fourth quarter. Getting key contributions from multiple players, the Lady Rams exploded for 25 points and continued to shut down Tuskegee's struggling offense.
 
Zuri Frost finished with 15 points and five rebounds, and Ieshia Young added 10 points and five rebounds. Artisha Holston recorded nine points and 16 rebounds. Kayla Green had a solid all-around game with eight points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
 
The Lady Rams shot 28-of-60 (46.7%) from the field, 9-of-19 (47.4%) from three-point range and 8-of-10 (80%) from the free throw line.
 
The Albany State defense outrebounded Tuskegee 49-38, forced the Lady Tigers into 24 turnovers and generated 14 steals. The team also held its visitors to 17.7% shooting from the field.
 
Aryana Jackson led the Tigerettes with 16 points. Rachel Browlee added another 12 points.
 
Albany State will be idle until Saturday, Feb. 6 when it host archrival Fort Valley State University in another SIAC showdown. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
