Golden Rams remain winless at home after loss to Morehouse

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State Golden Rams failed to gain their first home win of the season. ASU dropped a 76-55 decision to the Morehouse Maroon Tigers on Monday night. The loss gives Albany State a 3-16 overall record, which includes a 3-9 mark in the SIAC.

Morehouse, who is currently second in the SIAC East standings, improves to 9-5, 5-4.

In front of an enthused home crowd, Albany State held an early advantage and seemed to be on its way to an upset. However, trailing 14-13 at the 13:02 mark of the first half, the Golden Rams went cold from the field and free throw line. The Maroon Tigers used a 17-0 run over the next seven minutes to build a 31-13 advantage. By halftime, ASU was down 47-20.

In the second half, Albany State could never generate a serious run to overtake their visitors. Morehouse held a 30-point lead, 52-22, with 16:21 left to play in regulation. The closest ASU could get was the margin in the final score.

Earl Farnum led the team with 10 points. Jordan Floyd added nine points, and Lance Dixon recorded nine points and seven rebounds.

The Golden Rams shot 20-of-48 (41.7%) from the field, 2-of-9 (22.2%) from three-point range and 13-of-30 (43.3%) from the free throw line.

Morehouse was led by Ayinde Russell's game-high 23 points. Robert Askew recorded 11 points and nine rebounds, and Miodrag Minic had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Albany State returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 26 when it hosts Miles College at ASU HPER Gymnasium. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
