Golden Rams fall to Miles Golden Bears

ALBANY, Ga- Sophomore guard Michael Green has 12 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, but the Albany State Golden Rams could not record its first home win of the season. Despite playing tough for most of the contest, ASU faltered late and lost to the Miles College Golden Bears 73-62 in an SIAC matchup.
 
The loss by Albany State drops its record to 3-17 overall and 2-10 in league play. The Golden Bears improve to 11-9, 9-2.
 
Albany State had a good showing in the first half, but trailed in the early part of the stanza. Earl Farnum provided the Golden Rams with their first lead of the game, 24-22, when he nailed a three-pointer at the 7:38 mark.
 
The Golden Rams continued to play well for the rest of the half. A pair of free throws by Jordan Floyd gave ASU a 36-28 advantage, its biggest of the game. Albany State led 36-32 at intermission.
 
In the second half, the two teams swapped the lead on several different occasions. Trailing 62-60 with 4:06 left in the game, Farnum's basket tied the game. However, Albany State went scoreless the rest of the way, and the Golden Bears ended the game on an 11-0 run.
 
Malik Dungee netted 12 points for the Golden Rams. Earl Farnum added 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.
 
The Golden Rams shot 25-of-65 (38.5%) from the field, 3-of-22 (13.6%) from three-point range and 9-of-14 (64.3%) from the free throw line.
 
Joshua Samuels led a list of four double digit scorers for Miles with a game-high 14 points.
 
Albany State returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 30 when it hosts the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers at ASU HPER Gymnasium. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
