Golden Rams Baseball takes pair from Morehouse

Albany, Georgia- The Albany State Golden Rams continued its dominance of the Morehouse Maroon Tigers on Sunday. After defeating Morehouse 18-4 on Saturday, ASU completed a series sweep of its guest by taking the doubleheader 19-1 (Game 1) and 5-3.
 
With the wins, the Golden Rams improve to 6-19 overall and 4-2 in the SIAC. Morehouse falls to 8-11, 5-5.
 
 
Game 1: Albany State 19, Morehouse 1
 
Just like in Game 1 of the three-game series, Albany State made short work of Morehouse. The Golden Rams scored at least three runs in five of the six innings they batted. ASU's only went scoreless in the fifth inning.
 
The Maroon Tigers' only run came in the top of the sixth inning when they scored off a wild pitch.
 
Emmanuel Santos led the team with three hits and four RBIs, while Allen Hardy had two hits and four RBIs. Ryan Latner and Hector Carrasquillo each added two hits and two RBIs.
 
The Golden Rams recorded 15 hits and committed two errors for the game.
 
Game 2: Albany State 5, Morehouse 3
 
In the close game of the series, Albany State built a lead and was able to hold off the Maroon Tigers late for the sweep.
 
Latner scored the Golden Rams' first run in the bottom of the first inning when he came home off a Santos' sacrifice. Morehouse answered with a score of its own to tie the game at one.
 
In the third inning, ASU added two more runs when Reise McDaniel scored on an error, and Terrance Worthy came home when Arrington belted a double to left field. Latner hit a single in the fifth inning to score Nick Bruner. Worthy followed suit with a single of his own to send Latner home for a 5-1 lead.
 
Morehouse did score two runs in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, but the Golden Rams were able to hold off the rally.
 
Arrington led the Golden Rams with two hits and an RBI. He also picked up the mound win.
 
The Golden Rams collected seven hits and committed four errors.
 
Albany State returns to action on Tuesday, March 17 when it travels to Americus, Georgia to take on the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
