WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA- The Albany State Lady Rams dropped a doubleheader to Rollins College by the scores of 6-1 and 9-3. With the pair of losses, ASU falls to 13-15 overall. Rollins improves to 25-9.
Game 1: Rollins 6, Albany State 1
The Lady Rams could never get there bats going in Game 1. Rollins led 2-0 after the first inning, 3-0 after the third and 6-0 after the fifth. Albany State's lone run came when Ambrionna Atkism hit a homerun in the top of the seventh inning.
ASU collected only two hits for the game. Alexa Lopez took the mound loss.
Game 2: Rollins 9, Albany State 3
Albany State took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Chaconna's Marks' two-run homer provided the Lady Rams with the advantage. However, the Lady Tars scored four runs of their own in the same inning to take a 4-2 lead.
In the fourth inning, Kayla Alexander hit a homerun to cut ASU's deficit to 4-3. That hit would serve as Albany State final score. Rollins added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and three more in the bottom of the sixth to pull away from the Lady Rams.
Malea Maye led Albany State with three hits and Alexander added two more. Chelsea Hicks was credited with the mound loss.
Albany State will return to action on Saturday, March 29 when it host SIAC foe Claflin University for a doubleheader. Game times are slated for 1 and 3 p.m.
