Lady Rams sweep Clark Atlanta in SIAC duel

Box Score ALBANY- The Albany State Lady Rams defeated the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers in an SIAC doubleheader. ASU took Game 1 6-0 and won the closer by the score of 9-2. With the victory, the Lady Rams improve to 4-10 overall and 4-0 in the SIAC. CAU drops to 6-6, 3-3.

Game 1: Albany State 6, Clark Atlanta 0

Albany State took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Chelsea Hicks hit a double to score Malea Maye, and Chaconna marks doubled to Hicks home.

ASU added two more runs in the third inning. The first came when Hicks doubled again to score Domonique Bryant. Marks' single brought Maye home, and Albany State gained a 4-0 advantage.

The Lady Rams got two more runs in the fifth inning. Those runs came courtesy of Marks' homerun that scored both her and Hicks.

Marks finished the game with three hits and four RBIs. Hicks added three hits and two RBIs. Alexa Lopez was credited with the mound win.

Albany State recorded nine hits and two errors for the game.

Game 2: Albany State 9, Clark Atlanta 2

The Lady Panthers led 1-0 until the bottom fourth. The Lady Rams exploded for four runs during that period. Ambrionna Atkism singled to score Hicks, Anria had a sacrifice to score Marks, and Taylor Holmes doubled to score Toni Coleman and Atkism.

In the fifth inning, Hicks hit a two-run homer to give ASU a 6-2 advantage. The Lady Rams added two more runs for an 8-2 lead. Another Albany State run in the sixth inning accounted for the final tally.

Maye, Hicks and Coleman, each collected two hits. Hicks and Peterson added two RBIs apiece. Hicks also recorded the mound win.

The Lady Rams had two hits and three errors for the game.

Albany State will return to action on Monday, March 10^th when the team travels to Mount Vernon, Georgia to face Brewton Parker College in a doubleheader. Game times are slated for 2 and 4 p.m.
