Lady Rams drop close games to Valdosta State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALBANY- The Albany State Lady Rams dropped a pair of home games to the Valdosta State Lady Blazers by the scores of 2-1 and 5-2. With the losses, ASU falls to 2-10 overall. VSU improves to 14-6.

Game 1: Valdosta State 2, Albany State 1

In the low-scoring duel, the Lady Rams could never get their bats going. Albany State trailed 2-0 until the final inning. The Lady Rams got their only run when Chaconna Marks scored.

Alexa Lopez took the mound loss for ASU. The Lady Rams recorded only one hit and committed two errors for the game.


Game 2: Valdosta State 5, Albany State 2

With VSU ahead 1-0, Domonique Bryant hit a double to score Toni Coleman that tied the game. The Lady Blazers answered with two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-1 advantage.

Marks' single brought Malea Maye home to cut the deficit to 5-2, but the Lady Rams could not manufacture anymore runs.

Bryant led the Lady Rams with two hits and an RBI. Chelsea Hicks recorded the mound loss.

ASU had five hits and no errors for the game.

The Lady Rams return to action on Saturday, March 1st when they host the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers in an SIAC doubleheader. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
