Lady Rams declaw archrival Fort Valley State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Albany State Lady Rams used only 10 innings to gain their first two victories of the season. Giving up only one run on the day, Albany State defeated archrival Fort Valley State by the scores of 8-0 and 11-1. With the wins, Albany State improves to 2-8 overall, 2-0 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State falls to 0-9, 2-0.

Game 1: Albany State 8, Fort Valley State 0

Albany State scored its first run in the bottom of the first inning when Domonique Bryant advanced home off an FVSU error. The Lady Rams added five more runs in the second inning, capitalizing on four hits, a walk and another FVSU error.

Bryant's single in the fifth inning scored two more ASU runs, and prompted the game to be called due to the eight-run rule.

Alexa Lopez led the Lady Rams with three hits and also recorded the mound win. Bryant added two RBIs.

Albany State collected eight hits and committed only one error during the game.


Game 2: Albany State 11, Fort Valley State 1

After a scoreless first inning, Ambrionna Atkism's hit scored Chaconna Marks in the second inning to give Albany State a 1-0 lead. Hicks' single in the third inning brought in Bryant for a 2-0 advantage.

Adding five more runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth provided the Lady Rams with a commanding lead. The second game ended in the fifth inning.

Hicks and Malea Maye led the Lady Rams with three hits apiece. Hicks also recorded six RBIs and the mound win.

The Lady Rams recorded 12 hits and committed two errors for the game.

Albany State returns to action on Tuesday, February 25th when they face the Valdosta State Lady Blazers at Lady Ram Park. Game time for the doubleheader is slated for 1 and 3 p.m.
