 VALDOSTA, GA- The Albany State Lady Rams were unable to get their first win of the season against an in-state rival.  After losing four games in the University of West Florida Invitational, the Lady Rams fell to the Valdosta State Lady Blazers 3-0.  With the loss, ASU is 0-5 on the season, while Valdosta State improved to 5-0.
 
 The Lady Rams got off to a sluggish start in the first game that saw them trailing 12-2. ASU finally got into a flow and closed their gap to 21-17.  However, Valdosta ended the game on a 4-0 run and won the game 25-17.
 
 In the second game, the Lady Rams' early contest troubles continued. The Albany State trailed early once again and could never make a serious run to challenge VSU. The final score was 25-13 in favor of the Lady Blazers.
 
 The third game offered a fierce comeback for the Lady Rams.  ASU actually led 13-7 before Valdosta State was able to tie the game at 14.  The two teams battled back and forth the rest of the game, but the Lady Rams lost 25-19.
 
 Senior middle hitter Jillian Anderson led Albany State with seven kills. Junior right hitter Jennifer Evans added five kills.  Junior setter Amanda Cook recorded 22 assists, while senior Ashley Johnson and sophomore Kaliah Carter had eight and seven digs, respectively.
 
 The Lady Rams will return to action on September 19th-21st.  Albany State will participate in the SIAC Crossover Tournament in Frankfort, Kentucky.
