Hall of Fame Nomincation Requirements

Eligibility & Selection Process
  • Minimum of five (5) individuals will be inducted (one per category), with a maximum of seven (7).
  • Only one team may be inducted.
  • Selection is based primarily on contributions during their time at Albany State University, Albany State College, or Darton State College.
 
Nomination Guidelines
  • Nominations for the 2026 Hall of Fame Class will open on October 15, 2025.
  • Anyone may nominate a candidate.
  • Nominations must be submitted electronically by the stated deadline.
  • A selection committee reviews all nominations and votes.
  • Nominees not selected remain on the ballot for three years.
  • Attendance at the induction ceremony is required (except for health-related exceptions).
 
Categories & Requirements
Student-Athletes
  • Must have been out of collegiate competition for at least five (5) years.
  • Must have achieved one or more of the following:
    • All-American
    • NCAA Regional/National recognition
    • All-Conference
    • Olympic participation
    • Institutional record holder in a significant statistical category
Coaches
  • Must have coached at ASU for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Must have a record of program development, achievement, and leadership.
  • Recognized as Conference, Regional, or National Coach of the Year or led a team to a Conference or National Championship.
 
Teams
  • Five (5) years must have passed since the team’s achievement.
  • Must have won a conference, regional, or national championship.
 
Administrators & Meritorious Service
  • Served at ASU for at least five (5) years, making significant contributions to athletics.
  • Contributions may be through leadership, service, financial support, or advocacy.
 
Additional Notes
  • Inductions occur during Homecoming in even-numbered years (e.g., 2026, 2028, etc.).
  • Team inductees receive one collective award; individual members may still be nominated separately.
  • If a nominee cannot attend the ceremony (except for health reasons), induction is deferred to the next ceremony.
