"The Team Behind The Team"
Albany State Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Program
The Albany State University Athletic Training Staff aims to create an environment that promotes the health and well-being of our student-athletes and the Albany State community. We achieve this by preventing and treating sports-related injuries, evaluating conditions that limit a student-athlete’s ability to participate in athletics, ensuring a safe environment for our diverse student-athlete population, and educating students, staff, and faculty about the benefits of fitness and physical activity.
Student-athletes must schedule all treatment and rehabilitation appointments through the Head Athletic Trainer. Appointments must be submitted online via the portal request form. Please ensure you plan, as walk-in availability is limited.
Vision Statement:
The Albany State University Sports Medicine Program shall provide injury prevention, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and educational services of recognized excellence to every student-athlete. The Albany State University sports medicine team is committed to becoming the leader in sports medicine, education, and research throughout all NCAA Division II Colleges and Universities.
Mission Statement:
Above all else, the underlying philosophy for the sports medicine program is to have the best interest of our student-athletes as our top priority and first consideration for all members of the Athletic Training Staff and Sports Medicine Team at Albany State University. Our mission is to prevent, evaluate, and treat student-athletes with the highest quality medical care in order to help the student-athletes perform safely at their greatest potential.
ALL Student-Athletes:
Welcome!Â
As part of your entrance or return to ASU Golden Rams Athletics and the NCAA requirements, all student-athletes are required to be medically cleared and have proof of insurance before participating in a university-sponsored athletic team. Please visit www.vivature.com to complete all necessary medical forms and make sure to enter ALSADS for the school code.Â

Athlete Pre-Participation Information and Requirements
Albany State University and the NCAA require all of our sports teams to be cleared medically before any practice or competition. The following links will help show you the process you need to follow to be cleared. Please follow the instructions precisely; improperly completing the process could delay your clearance. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Sports Medicine Office. The best way to contact us is via email at tatiana.lester@asurams.edu, especially during the summer.
Please select the option that best describes your situation:
1. Returning Student -Athlete – These individuals have been cleared and participated on an NCAA athletic team while attending Albany State within the past twelve (12) months. Transfer students do NOT qualify as a returning student athlete, as any physical activity done at another institution does not count here at Albany State University.
2. New Varsity Student Athlete – These individuals have never gone through the physical process (i.e., first-year student or transfer student, or upperclassman who just decided to go out for a varsity team). These students will need to have had a physical by a physician within six (6) months of participating with a team.
